WEDNESDAY NIGHT SKIES

Red sky at night, sailor's delight, Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. So if this holds true then I guess it's a great day to be sailing in Southern California. Just had to share these pictures with you. (sorry, they are kind of grainy)

Red sky at night, sailors delight. When we see a red sky at night, this means that the setting sun is sending its light through a high concentration of dust particles. This usually indicates high pressure and stable air coming in from the west. Basically good weather will follow.

Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning. A red sunrise reflects the dust particles of a system that has just passed from the west. This indicates that a storm system may be moving to the east. If the morning sky is a deep fiery red, it means a high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain is on its way.

WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

This is volume 20!

Have you joined in yet?

Click on the button and head over to Joyce's.

I am late in getting this out today. I took a day for myself yesterday. After bowling I headed to one of the Casinos that is out in that direction. I hadn't been there since we moved out to Riverside. I gambled for about 6 hours and only left about $95. there, not bad at all! I also enjoyed a great meal at the buffet. I was gone from 8am to 8:30 pm so I was pretty tired when I got home.

Why am I telling you this? First of all I am way behind in my reading so I won't be over for a few days. Also I feel like today is April Fool's Day!!! I decided to turn on my computer last night to do my hodgepodge. Well the questions were going right over my head and I just couldn't come up with answers. (and google was really slow!) I answered a few and decided to finish up this morning.

So I go on my computer this morning to finish this. Well I usually answer the questions in Html then I will preview how it looks and go back to Html. Every time I did this the questions would be all discombobulated in Html. Each time! So I ended up having to delete and start over. So that's my story and I am sticking to it. Why am I sharing this with you? Because I said so!

Fudge! (one of Joyce's pseudo-swear words from last week) It is still acting up this morning!!! So I am not sure how this is going to turn out when I hit publish.

So here we go:

1. April rolls in at the end of this week and in celebration of that infamous date (April 1st) answer this question-What is something foolish you've done?

I know there are many and certainly one better then the one I will tell you but nothing else is coming to mind right now. I remember years ago going outside to talk to the paper boy about something and when I came inside Mark mentioned to me that I had a green mask on my face! I am sure my face turned red but we will never know since it was green.

2. With April comes Easter and that classic edible treat known as Peeps...so tell me...what's your favorite way to fix/eat chicken? That wasn't what you were expecting, was it? I 'fooled' you. teehee.

Well I like the Salsa Chicken I made last week but I am going to say my favorite is when Mark grills them with some olive oil, salt, pepper and caraway seeds.

3. What's the best museum you've ever visited? Or your favorite? Or the one you'd most like to visit?

The best museum is the Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin. I have been to many museums, we had several in Chicago but I went to this one back in the late 80's and it was awesome. Actually I looked it up last night and it's a world renowned! I would also like to visit one of the Holocaust Museums and the Smithsonian.

4. You know what they say about April showers...what's your preference-a shower or a bath?

Shower! As far as getting up and out I feel cleanest taking one. A bath is great for soaking in but I seldom have the patience for that. I don't know why I can't enjoy them more. Even in our jet tub I am impatient.

5. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"...fact or fiction? Why?

Is this a trick question, like is there actually a medical answer for this? I know it's a fact for me! My version of the why is actually to long to explain and I've been wordy enough today.

6. What's your favorite product made/grown in your home state/province?

I don't know. I even googled it so my answer is wine!

7. What is going on in the world today that affects you the most?

I have a long list but I am going to say all the devastation that keeps happening, the natural disasters have taken their toll on me. My heart is broken into a million pieces.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I heard about this in an email and wanted to share it with you. When you have an x-ray taken and they put one of those apron things on you did you know that they have one for your throat but they don't use it. It will protect you from thyroid cancer so ask for it.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Stop: Proceed With Caution
(comments off)

I am trying some new things here at Just Breathe and learning as I go along so if you are visiting today you might see all kinds of weird colors and patterns going on. (I don't believe in having a practice blog)

So feel free to read my last post here (if you haven't already)
or go over to Debby's Tree for a look at my ornaments!

Sorry for the inconvenience!

RANDOM IS ALL I HAVE

  • So Wednesday ended up being a pajama day for me. I keep trying to clear my reader but it's not going away, the posts keep coming! Anyway it was like 4pm by the time I got around to taking a shower so I figured I might as well go back into some clean pajamas.
  • So this is what happens when it rains, we get snow capped mountains. This was also on Wednesday. It was kind of nice and sunny but as of right now it is evening and it's pouring outside. (Skye says hello) She is in need of a brushing and a bath! Since I was outside with my camera I decided to take a picture of one of our Gerber daisies plants. (I did brighten up the picture of the mountains)

  • So if you are an American Idol watcher you know what happened last night. What a show! One of the best performers, Casey, was at the very bottom last night with votes. The judges only get to save one person the entire season and they saved him. I know that I will make sure I vote for him next week. I figured it was to early to have to worry about voting for the good ones right now but I was wrong.
  • I have a question and I hope someone can help me. I like to change my backgrounds a few times a year. I have been looking at every one's blogs who are using blogger and looking to see what templates they are using. Here is my problem, when I pick a background it has to have a very dark color in the center because my blog has a dark grey color there. I love all the backgrounds available to us but so many have white in the center so they just become grey centers when I use them. I have emailed several of the people who make the backgrounds but they never respond. I would like it to be white and I'm not sure how to change that. Any suggestions!
  • Update on my daughter Amber. Her blood work was pretty good. Her thyroid reading was slightly off and her B12 is low. We will be taking her to our regular doctor to talk to him about those two things. Her doctor is weaning her off of her current medication and putting her on a new one. (Pray that it works for her) She can also take the anti-anxiety pill that she was given, when needed. Like I told you she doesn't have medical insurance. The new pill is $210. a month but if it works for her it is worth every penny.

A very Happy Birthday to our son's best girl.
She turns 28 tomorrow.
We love you Tristen!

WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Click on the button and join us!

1. Sunday was the first day of spring. So they say. Ahem.
What is your favorite outdoor springtime activity?
Living in Southern California we have a lot of nice weather so I can't really say that I have one but we have gone out to the desert to see the cactus in bloom in the Spring. Right now there are acres of flowers in bloom in Carlsbad, CA which we hope to visit soon.

2. Who would you want to come into your kitchen to cook dinner for you?
I don't really watch many of the Food Network shows but I was hooked for awhile on the Jamie Oliver show so I will say him. (If my mom could come back from Heaven to cook for me that would be awesome)

3. When did you last fly a kite?
It's so long ago that I can't remember or even guess.

4. What topic puts you to sleep faster than anything?
Probably politics.

5. Which flowers do you associate with specific people, places, or events?
Well my mother liked gardenias so I always think of her when I see one or smell the scent.

6. What significant historical events took place during your elementary school days?
The assassination of John F. Kennedy November 22, 1963. I think I was in 7th grade and I remember being in the library at the time. Now don't get me wrong, this was a horrible tragedy that happened but my attention was centered on my best friend. She was a total wreck because not to long before that day she had lost her father to brain cancer. She knew what it was like to lose a loved one, she knew more about death then I did. This is my friend who lost her 12 year old son to suicide 11 years ago. Her life has been very hard. (I don't remember my parents talking to me about this event at all)

7. Do you swear? Do you pseudo-swear? (You know crap, shoot, friggin'?)
I do swear when I'm really made. When I'm out, like at bowling yesterday, I will pseudo-swear when I get upset!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I was sent this link in an email and I thought it was pretty interesting. When you go to the link move your mouse over the pictures and it will show you an aerial shot of a section in Japan and as you move the mouse it shows you what it looks like now.

WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

1. What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Let's pretend this pot of gold is worth exactly $1500 (which would actually be more like a cup of gold at current values). Anyway, let's also pretend you have to spend it as opposed to making a donation someplace. Now tell me what you would do with that cup pot of gold?

We would go to Disneyland and also Universal Studios!

2. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form?

No.

3. Have you been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug? What spring cleaning job most needs doing at your house? What spring cleaning job are you most dreading?

No ~ Everything ~ All of them!!!

4. Lime-shamrock-sage-forest...your favorite shade of green?

Sage green.

5. Thomas Jefferson once said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." So...do you believe in luck or do you believe we make our own luck?

I believe in luck, I also believe in being at the right place at the right time and also I believe in Godicidences!

6. Monday (3/14) was Pi Day. Get it? Pi =3.14. Those math types are so clever aren't they? Since I'm not one of them tell me what's your favorite piE (the edible kind)?

Well I really like Bumbleberry when Polly's made them. I'm not sure anymore, but if there is a blackberry one that is what I would choose.

7. That same date (3/14) happens to be the birth date of the late physicist Albert Einstein. I bet he knew the value of Pi. So...what do you think is more important and or valuable in life... intelligence or common sense?

That is not an easy one to answer. I do know that in some situations common sense can get you further than intelligence!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I hate to be Debby downer but that is where I am right now. Took Amber for her blood work yesterday. Since she doesn't have insurance it's been many years since any blood work has been done so we felt it was important for her to get it. So the other day I was asking my husband "what if we go and it's like $1,000. what do you want me to do?" He said "well it needs to be done doesn't it?" Well it was $960.00 and that was with a cash discount! Also on this day 29 years ago my mother passed away from a massive heart attack. I just can't believe that so many years has passed, it still feels like yesterday. Amber was only 10 months old at the time, she didn't even get to know how awesome her grandmother was.
