I'm not screaming today ~ Scratch that, I wasn't screaming the day we got the check. Today I am screaming again!

11/19/09 2:35 pm
Okay, you need to know that I wrote this last week when I wasn't screaming. Could not post it because of previous posts that had to be done. (Husbands birthday, blog tour, etc) So at the bottom you will see that I am still screaming because of the current situation which is below the original post. Also I really do apologize because I hate doing long posts.

11/13/09 (maybe Friday the 13th had something to do with this)
So back on June 17th I wrote this post "I just want to scream", go on over and read it. Go ahead, I have time. Okay so did you read it? This actually went on for a few more months sending paperwork and death certificates. I finally contacted the attorney that we used to see if they could help me with this because I was getting nowhere. I really didn't think that anything would come of this because of the previous conversations I had with them. So for the last few months the attorney has been sending letters and then every few weeks calling me to see if I have heard back from them. Well guess what? We received a very nice check in the mail so I'm not screaming today! I am so glad that I pursued this further and hired the attorney. I am also thankful that the last person I had talked to said that he really believed that we were entitled to this money. He wasn't allowed to give me an amount but said it was worth enough to pay an attorney to check it out. I can't wait to call the attorney to tell her the good news! After it gets divided up it's not allot of money but it will help me buy another batch (144) of handkerchiefs and get them embroidered for "FOR YOUR TEAR". It will also help with some of the Christmas shopping this year. All thanks be to God.

11/19/09 9:00 am UPDATED BEFORE POSTED: SO I MAIL THE CHECK TO MY FATHER SINCE IT REQUIRED BOTH OF OUR SIGNATURES. EXPRESS MAILED IT AND IT NEVER ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY. OMG ARE YOU SHITTING ME! THAT WAS THE FIRST PROBLEM. P.O. TOLD ME THAT MOST LIKELY IT WOULD ARRIVE THE FOLLOWING DAY. SO MY POOR DAD HAD TO WAIT WHICH AS YOU KNOW IS NOT FUN. SO IT ARRIVES THE NEXT DAY(today) AND HIS MAIL PERSON PUT IT IN HIS BOX. THIS ITEM WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE A SIGNATURE. CASE#ca100510156 IS PENDING WITH THE POST OFFICE. SO MY DAD GOES TO THE BANK WITH THE CHECK AND THEY WON'T TAKE IT. THEY DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ESTATE CHECK EVEN THOUGH MY DAD AND I ARE BOTH ON RECORD AT THEIR BANK. THEY SAID WE HAVE TO OPEN UP A NEW ESTATE ACCOUNT TO CASH IT. WE CLOSED ALL THOSE ACCOUNTS A YEAR AGO. THE WOMAN AT BofA ACTUALLY ASKED ME IF I WAS MAKING A TO TRIP TO FLORIDA BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE TO BE THERE IN PERSON! SO I HAD TO CALL PRUDENTIAL AND THEY GAVE ME A NUMBER FOR THE BANK TO CALL TO APPROVE THIS. GUESS WHAT, THAT DIDN'T WORK EITHER. SO I DID SPEAK TO A WOMAN AT PRUDENTIAL WHO SAID THAT WE NEED TO SEND A LETTER STATING THAT THE ESTATE WAS CLOSED OVER A YEAR AGO AND CAN THEY MAKE AN EXCEPTION AND ISSUE A NEW CHECK. I ALSO HAVE TO GET STATEMENTS FROM THE BANK SHOWING THAT THE ESTATE ACCOUNTS WERE ACTUALLY CLOSED!! THIS ALL TOOK ME AT LEAST 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE TODAY. (remember, each time you call you have to go through a computer voice who didn't understand me!) SO I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED.....

So right now it is 1:00 pm and my Dad went to another bank and they took the check. I'm not even on record at this bank and they deposited it for my Dad. So we may not have to send the letter and information , begging for them to make an exception. Now we have to wait 5 days to see if it does go through. Say a prayer and cross your finger that maybe it ends here!

11/19/09 2:45 pm
So in honor of the day I had I am defrosting the leftover A+ chili, pouring a glass of wine (yes it's only going on 3pm but it's 6 in Florida by my Dad) and I am going to rent "My Sister's Keeper" ON DEMAND and have a good cry.

I do realize that whining about this is really wrong when things really are not bad so I am sorry. It was just a very frustrating day and I had to vent. I am truly thankful for all that God gives me.

I'll let you know what happens in a very short post next week.

This is your platform to express yourself, so complain away! Sometimes things are so frustrating, and you've been extremely patient. I hope everything paid off for you & your hard work in the best way!

I feel for your dad having to deal with so much. I was just with my mom in FLA and frankly, she is very capable of dealing with all that is dealt, but things like this would exhaust her. I think they are making it all the harder to close out estates and no one will deal with glitches. Wine, good choice!!! Hang in there, and vent all you want. It may help someone else who is jumping through hoops also!

It's like they forget people paid premiums for years for this insurance....I deal with all that stuff with my mother and honestly, I see no reason it has to be so complicated! So scream!!!!!

I think you have a right to screen! I've had my bad moments with BofA too. They didn't even care why I pulled my money out of their bank after they had screwed up VERY badly! All of your effort will pay off!

Wow, that is so bizarre! I've never had to deal with anything like that but I hope it gets worked out soon for you. It's ridiculous!

Wow! What an ordeal! It reminds me of the problems my mom is currently dealing with as the trustee of my grandfather's estate. (He passed away this Spring.) I'm sure she's wanting to scream right along with you!

Can you say d-r-a-m-a??? Does it help to blog about it? I find this platform to be quite helpful in that respect sometimes. BTW, sooooooooo glad to be back. ;)

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of this. I HATE those recordings that tell me to push this number or that number! A year after we closed out my mother's estate, the IRS sent something saying the estate owed money. Thankfully, a CPA, who had filed the return for us, got it all straightened out, but it sure had me in a panic. Good luck! Hope you enjoyed your wine and your movie. laurie

That kind of stuff is so maddening! I just got a message from my Aunt that they finally got her Dad's (my grandfather's) estate settled finally...after a little over two years.

crossing my fingers for you!

Having dealt with the lost of three parents in the last 15 years, but none involving an estate, I sympathize with your frustration.

But it's their game and you can't let them win!

OMGosh girlie what a ordeal! You're not whining you're stating your frustrations and this is the place to do it!!! You're poor dad what a thing for him to have to go threw also, yeah right like you're just hopping on a plane. Sometimes people can be so ignorant!

I'm praying that it will all work out. And there is no doubt that you are thankful and we know he thinks you're very special!
