Paris

Well I was out around 9:15 and it was a cloudy cool day. It did actually drizzle a little bit today. I went over and got on the L'Open Tour bus. I got off at their main office and booked a tour to Versailles for (tomorrow) Friday the 24th, our anniversary. We will be picked up and dropped off at our hotel.
I also shopped at the crazy department stores around La Fayette where they have every brand you can think of and many that are considered high end shopping. Honestly you won't believe how big these stores are! I never ended up going back to that large LV (Louis Vuitton) store I had seen but found one that was very nice in these stores. I didn't buy anything however I thought that maybe I should get a LV scarf or maybe a Fendi or Burberry one. Did I mention that everyone wears scarfs! Everyone also seems to smoke. Well the scarfs were all around $350. plus and I just knew it just wasn't a smart purchase. I got really close to buying a Fendi purse that was 40% off. I just couldn't make up my mind. I don't regret not buying it but I did love it!

I had lunch at the Opera cafe with a delicious bacon salad and salmon with some sparkling water. All water is served bottled, gas or no gas. Then I went to Montmarte to see the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Paris, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur (French). It was beautiful. I lite a candle for my dad praying for his back pain to go away and bought him a little gift from the shop. It was a walk up to the top but I cheated and took a little tram. I still had to walk pretty far to get to the tram from the tour drop-off stop and it was all uphill. I passed by the best little store, walked around inside and told myself I would stop on the way down to purchase some goodies.
I had a glass of wine at a street cafe after I came down from the church and wondered through some shops. When I was heading to that fabulous store I realized the time was almost six and I believe the last bus was six so I had to skip it. They had some beautiful cookies and camels I wanted to buy. As it turned out I could have shopped because I had to wait almost 40 minutes for that bus. I was actually getting worried that I had missed it and would have to find another way back.
Mark was out to dinner so I stopped for some wine, crackers, and brie. It was a good day.
Some street performer.

I love that part of Paris. My daughters had their portraits painted there...it was tres froid! but still fun.
So pretty! DD2 would have stayed at the crazy department stores. For life.
A question: how does their house wine compare to the stuff we get here in the states? I always imagine their wine has a soothing yet robust flavor with some magic qualities mixed in for good measure. LOL
I've always thought I could pass on Europe (too many places I'd rather go here in the States), but your stories and pictures are making me second guess that decision. ;-)
Debby~
Your stories and pictures are just BEAUTIFUL!! I am so glad you had a wonderful time!
Seeing Paris through your eyes has been AWESOME!
Blessings~

Such fun! You should have taken a picture.
I would love to see a Fendi purse.
The shops sound so awesome and romantic.
What a fun time for you.
Too bad you missed out on the carmels and cookies. Sounds so quaint.
My parents only drink water with gas now since living in Germany (they have a Soda Stream to make it). I think it's gross! LOL!
The Basilica is beautiful! And the view is amazing!
The street performers are so neat! I saw them in Germany too...I would have thought they were just statues if my mom and dad didn't tell me otherwise :-)
oooooo shopping! I couldn't spend that much either. Keep those pics coming...highlight of my day now that I am sstuck in bed.
Sounds like a pretty perfect day, to me. A lovely part of Paris.
Those street performers always looks so freaky but you can't help but stare at them - Ha Ha. Great pictures of 3 totally different ones. LOok at their colors.
Thanks for the pictures Debby.
This is the highlight of my day.
Thank you for sharing your travels!
My my my Debbie. I wish only I enjoyed shopping. Guess I would spend too much money if I did. Hee hee. Thank you for sharing.
Hmmm...$350 dollars for a scarf--and everyone was wearing scarfs??? Woah!
I would've enjoyed looking, but I don't think I'd have done much buying. LOL
Those stores! Wow! The buildings are beautiful and especially the church!
I bought a scarf (not for $350 or even $50) but I feel funny when I wear it!
You are definitely make me want to go to Paris.
I would love to see how those performers paint themselves and what they use and how hard it must be to get every bit off of them when they shower.
What a perfect day!!! WOW! That is an expensive scarf! I'm surprised that everyone smokes since it seems like I rarely see anyone smoking anymore! Maybe it's because our state is smoke-free now... who knows! Great pics as always!
I am not sure I could control myself at the purse shops lol. I hope you dads back feels better soon.
I'VE always wanted to see street performer like that! Not the kind we have here hehe that look like may need a bath and a bit off tune.
I would just love to walk threw those stores. I bet they were just amazing to see all those awesome items! Good for you on not buying if your not sure on it!
All your photos are beautiful. What a wonderful vacation.
Isn't it hard to see those high end brands, feel the quality of the fabrics and not want something?!! Good for you for resisting. You are so right, it just wouldn't have been a smart purchase - not for the life that you lead. If you were going to be at the opening of the next (fill in the blank) then it would probably be a great purchase LOL
