So while I'm off at the Class of 1969 HS Reunion I thought I would leave you with a little show and tell. Isn't that something what we did in grade school on a Friday? Weren't you excited when it was your turn?
I have had this plate for sometime now. It is called "Mable's Sunny Retreat." I am not a plate collector but when I saw this one I knew I needed to have it.
Looks like it may have come out in 1994. Mark's grandmother had a hutch in her kitchen and this reminded me of that. But there is more to the story of this plate.
Mark's grandmothers name was Mable and she was born in 1900. Of course she wasn't a cat like this Mable but you get the idea. So if you look behind the cat there is a teapot and behind the teapot is a large oval serving plate.
This lovely oval plate belonged to Mable and she gave it to me so I could enjoy it. I have loved this plate from the first day I saw it. I have had it in places of honor in all of my homes. Before I started collecting my Jim Shore pieces this was on my hutch in the same spot as on the plate.
They are not exactly the same pattern but close enough! So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. The Mable's Sunny Retreat plate sits on my night stand in the bedroom so I am always reminded of Mark's Nana Mable.
Here is a recent picture of our wall of canvas
photos from places we have visited.
(biggest is 18 x 20)
And this little guy is "Olaf" from the movie Frozen.
He is a Jim Shore piece and I think he is adorable!
That's All Folks !
Enjoy your weekend....

I just love the story behind your plate! It's perfect. Sometimes we just need to have something for sentimental reasons, not because they are valuable to anyone else.
We just had show and tell this week at preschool, and the kids were SO excited. Everyone loves show and tell!
The Mable plate is so cute!
i love the mable plate with the mable platter. :)
Yes, the Mabel plate definitely belongs to you. Isn't it sweet to find something so personal? I like your canvas wall, too. What a cool idea; you can just stroll by the wall and visit each place again.
What a pretty Mabel plate with a great story behind it! I know you'll treasure that plate forever :)
I liked your show and tell and you are right, it did seem to be on Fridays; probably the wind down for the weekend. I remember one time our son took Koda in for show and tell :)

Hi Debby, I pray you had a wonderful time at your reunion. I haven't been to one since my 25th-and I didn't stay because we had my dad's funeral that day.
I love the plate-for all the reasons. I also have collected plates over the years, some with special meanings to. I also love Jim Shore-especially his pieces with quilts on them and his Christmas ornaments. I've been thinking and praying for you my friend.
Hugs, Noreen
OMGosh love the plate and the plate in the plate that is so amazing!
