If you know me you should know how much I enjoy answering questions which is why I love doing Wednesday Hodgepodge each week. So when my friends offered to play along with their awards and tags they didn't have to twist my arm.
My friend Betty at A Bench With a View was given a Liebster Award and left some questions to answer to anyone who wanted to play along so here I go:
1. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I have several favorites but I do enjoy "Baby It's Cold Outside" with James Taylor and Natalie Cole.
2. Pumpkin or pecan pie?
2. Pumpkin or pecan pie?
Pumpkin pie has always been my favorite but mainly because I didn't grow up with pecan pie. Had some at my MIL's this year and loved it!
3. Did you go to any of your high school reunions?
Yes I've been to a few but the most resent was just this past September for our 45th Class Reunion.
4. What was the last book you read?
The Shack by Wm.Paul Young and I couldn't tell you anything about it. I just don't retain things like that. I guess that is why I can watch movies over and over again too!
5. Favorite day of the week and why?
I think it is Friday. It is usually a pizza night, Mark is most likely in town and we usually watch a DVD together.

Of course Betty!
Of course Betty!
My friend in real life, Headless Mom at The Headless Family, was tagged and invited anyone who wanted to join in to play along. So here I go:
- When did you get your ears pierced? When I was a teenager with ice cubes and a needle.
- Where was the first place you remember driving when you got your license? I don't remember but probably the local frozen custard stand that was a popular hangout.
- What was your first car? My first new car was a 1969 1/2 Ford Maverick.
- How many children did you want when you were young? How many do you have? I wanted to have 4 children. We have two children.
- Do you have a garden? What is your favorite thing to grow? (veg or flower? Something else?) I like growing tomatoes. We have a lot of flowers in the yard and my favorite is Freesia.
- What was the name of your first pet? Is there a story to go along with the name? I'm trying to remember her name.....I know it was a poodle.
- What was the cutest thing one of your children has ever said? (Substitute neice or nephew if you aren't a parent.) Well when my mother passed away Adam was around 4 years old and he said "When grandma is done dying will she come back."
- What is your favorite age of children, in general, (i.e. baby, toddler, school-age, teen, etc.,) I am going to go with babies.
- What is your middle name? Laurie
- What dessert flavor is your LEAST favorite? Gosh I'm not sure. I'm going to go with orange yet I do like to eat oranges and drink orange juice.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
FYI: I still haven't started decorating.....

OMG, your 4 yr old's remark was about the funniest thing i've ever heard!!! :) thanks for that brevity!

my sis pierced my ears w/ needle, ice cubes and a potato, too. ouch!
don't like pecan pie. too sweet - also wasn't raised with it. :)
your friday nights sound nice! :)
levity instead of brevity. :) breath of fresh air either way. :)
Oh my - From above: 1. Blue Christmas 2. Pumpkin 3. Only one reunion, my 10th. Not into it. 6. Yes 7. Don't like Facebook 8. Yes, played Parcheesi and Sorry with my Dad. I buy a Lottery ticket now and then; and we don't have pets, and don't want any. Don't dislike animals, just don't want to deal.
Carole of the bells, instrumental... pecan all the way.. never went to a reunion in 52 years, no no no FB... candhyland and scrabble and Chinese checkers and monopoly as a child, my children never played games. I am with Tex on the hilarious dying comment.

Okay I would have a hard time picking between pumpkin and pecan - I love them both equally! Bet your trees are gorgeous.
Thanks that you answered my set of questions, Debby. I enjoyed reading the answers to both sets. I remember the days of piercing ears like that and also going to the doctor to have them pierced; my how times have changed! That was a sweet comment Adam made upon your mom's passing; too bad death doesn't work like that. I wasn't impressed with the book The Shack; in fact I don't think I even finished it.
Hopefully you'll get in the decorating mode and mood soon :)
betty
Pumpkin, pecan, chocolate or coconut cream. I will be happy if you put any one of those in front of me!!! I would never be able to pin down a favorite Christmas song, but between O Holy Night and the Hallelujah Chorus and Mary, Did You Know? I could listen to those over and over.
Love what little Adam said. That is so cute. My parents wouldn't let me have pierced ears, so when I turned 18, I tried to do the self-piercers, but couldn't bear it. After I got married, I had a surgeon pierce my ears.
Babies for me, too! I adore babies - could happily hold one all day long.
I love games!
My first car was a Maverick too! I think it was a 71 but I got it around 1988. I remember it didn't have power steering or brakes and that was fun ;)
My favourite Christmas song is Mary did you know? I heard it by Reba McIntyre and absolutely loved it. Plus the duets that Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers did were great too. Oh, and the ones by Kermit and friends of course. Can't leave those out!!
I read THe Shack some time ago. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the questions only answered the first half in my post. Have a great day.
I enjoyed your answers. I've read the Shack once and have listened to the audio version once or twice. I have trouble retaining everything too.
Such fun!! I had to chuckle at your 4 year old's comment! When my grandmother died, my son, who was about 4 1/2 at the time said, "Couldn't Papa just stuff Nana and have her stand in the corner? That way he won't be so lonely." :-)
Enjoyed reading your answers. You're an interesting person - which I mean in the best possible way!
Do you know that I still don't have pierced ears??? Clip-ons are so very hard to find, too!
GOD BLESS!
I read all your answers, have a Merry Christmas.
Hi, Debby!
I enjoyed reading your answers and learning more about you.
I may decide to do this on my blog as well.
Have a blessed Christmas with your family. xoxo
