WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 212
Thank you Joyce!

1. What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word 'spring'? Which phrase best describes the season of spring where you live right now (today)-sprung! almost there, or still waiting?

Probably crocus but we don't have any planted. I think of birds singing but I'm not sure either of those apply here in Southern California. Those are memories from living in Illinois for 38 years. I think we have "Sprung", the roses are starting to bloom.

2. Bed, couch, stapler, garage door, computer mouse, recliner, flashlight, door knob...which household item containing springs most needs replacing in your home? Speaking of springs...did you ever own a Slinky?

I think we are good right now on those items.....knock on wood! Yes I have owned a Slinky.

3. March is Women's History Month. Share a favorite quote by a woman.
4. What's a question that looms large in your mind right now?

Where will be live when we retire? (Adam and Tristen are in Pittsburgh and it is quite possible that Amber may be living in Alaska next year)

5. Are you a sugar freak? By that I mean how much do you love sugar? With all the bad press sugar gets these days, have you made any efforts to reduce the amount of sugar you consume?

I was a sugar freak for most of my life. Yes I have made a great effort to reduce the amount of sugar I consume. I've been doing this for at least 3 years now so I'm not that drawn to it anymore.

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy a dessert when we are out celebrating a birthday! I don't keep any sweets in the house except for fruit.

6. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you enjoy doing?

That's a good question. Truthfully I would just like to be motivated to do what I have to do!

7. Ever been to Texas? Of the top ten Texas tourist attractions which would you most like to see-The Alamo, The San Antonio River Walk, The State Capital, Dallas World Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, Houston Space Center, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Moody Gardens, or Galveston Island?

Yes I have been to Texas many times visiting my mother in law. I believe I have been to Padre Island National Seashore and possibly Galveston Island.

I know for sure that I saw The Alamo and walked The San Antonio River Walk in November last year. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Took the boat ride to see the Christmas lights. Hit the Texas cold wave so I would really enjoy going back and spending more time there.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

at first i thought my mouse has no spring, but then i remembered the batteries have tiny springs.. as far as i know the only spring missing is in my Nikon that i can't use because the spring that holds the battery is gone.
I drove through Texas in a JB Hunt truck, Houston scared me silly ... traffic and stacked interstates.
I am not a sugar freak, i suffer from sugar addiction and if i eat one cookie can't stop until they are gone. i TRY to stay away from sugar..

Kristin Wig is awesome.... I love funny ladies that are SMART!

I'd say that quote from Kristen Wiig is pretty accurate. The lady knows her stuff! Wow, you do have quite a difficult decision about where you want to retire with your kids spread out on opposite parts of the country.

wish i didn't love sugar as much as i do, but like you, have tried hard to cut a lot out. texas likes to throw in weather curveballs now and then to keep visitors on their toes. :)

I agree Kristen Wiig is hilarious! I liked her on SNL sketches, not so much on Bridesmaids. I felt like that movie was too long and too much drama when it should've been mostly comedy.

oh and was there really a basement in the Alamo? ;)

That Kristen Wiig quote is all kinds of great. Love her

WE are seeing spring somewhat, love our weather this week.
Been through Texas twice but only stopped for food. Love reading your answers. Have a great evening.
Hugs, Noreen

Never been to Texas, does look like a lot of things to visit there! Wow, Amber possibly in Alaska! That would be a change, wouldn't it? I know what you mean about where to retire. We are dealing with something similar here with where to buy a house (long story).

I could use some motivation right about now, too :(
Oh, no! I can't believe Amber is thinking about moving, too...
It sounds like you've experienced the best of what Texas has to offer :)

My mom always said that here in GA springtime is not a season - it is a blessing - and it is from all the beautiful and wonderful colors of flowers and trees!
I had a slinky too.

Hi Debby, Fun to read your answers and the comments too. Husband became diabetic about 3 years ago and I never realized before how many foods sugar are "hidden" in. Wishing you a nice evening.

I miss Texas - I haven't been back in so long! I'd like to take my boys there one day. Good for you for tamping down the sugar! It is such a hard thing to do.

Love the quote you used in your random question. I use the first part on my students all the time.

I know that my mother went to Corpus Christi during the war to travel back to CA with her best friend whose husband was being deployed as a naval pilot after training. She was working for the railroad at the time and could get a ticket during wartime. They went to Padre Island during the visit. It was the first time she had traveled alone.

I'm so excited about the early signs of spring! I have crocuses in bloom and the daffodils won't be far behind.

Spring equals flowers in my books, AND the need for a new garage door :)

You probably experience "Spring" type weather most of the year, so don't get too excited like the rest of us. The trees across the street from us have blossomed out just this week. They are gorgeous! Next time you are in Texas, you need to come right across the eastern border and visit us in Louisiana. Have a great weekend, Debby.
