Seriously, there is a thickness in the summer heat of Florida. Thankfully I am feeling good and breathing well but the humidity really thicken the air.
My dad was saying isn't it like this at home? No! So I looked up the dew point yesterday and it was 74% whereas our temperatures were exactly the same in California yesterday and the dew point was 45%. So when did they start calling it the dew point??

We went to Tarpon Springs last Sunday (Father's Day) where I was able to have a gyro at one of our favorite little restaurants there. We will definitely be going again before I go home!
It was one busy first week here. I arrived on Saturday night. Mark arrived in Florida on the East coast on Monday and Adam/Tristen arrived on Tuesday. Because of a delay in their flight the timing of Mark driving over from Melbourne to Palm Harbor worked out that he was able to pick them up on his way.
We went out to eat at the The Lucky Dill which is a favorite awesome deli here along with my sister Darcy and her husband Bob.
On Wednesday evening Mark and I headed to Clearwater to have dinner with Adam and Tristen. They treated us to an anniversary dinner at a place called Columbia which is Florida's oldest restaurant since 1905. It was a lovely dining experience.
Mark set Adam and Tristen up at the Clearwater Marriott Suites on Sand Key. Of course they were here to see family and celebrate his grandpa's birthday but it was also a little mini vacation for them. Mark has a lot of Marriott points from traveling so we try to do some specials things for them when we can.
I set up a pizza party for my dad with the family on Thursday. It was really nice and of course the pizza was delicious. I brought snacks over to my sister's house for the party and she picked up a really good cake for our Dad.
On Friday we went over to The Lucky Dill again for sandwiches before Mark needed to head to the airport for his flight home. Adam & Tristen went home on Saturday evening but spent the afternoon with us before they headed to the airport. Things will quiet down now for me. It was like being at home and planning out each day with company....I'm exhausted!
I went for a walk this morning and will hopefully enjoy the pool this week. I believe that dad and I will be going to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa tomorrow. Should be fun. He loves to go but doesn't drive himself there anymore so he hasn't been there since my last visit.

Sorry if I haven't been around. It is just too hard to be on vacation and read blogs! I will eventually catch up at some point. Hope all is well with everyone and that your enjoying your weekend.

Hi Debbie! Ya, it's been AGES since I've paused to comment ... but since your mention of a trip to the Tampa metro, I couldn't keep still! :)
I used to live in Palm Harbor/Tarpon for lots of years, so it's neat imagining your travels. And the Lucky Dill? Totally a favorite! But next time you're in or around the Phoenix metro, be sure and check out Archie's Deli -- it's just as good!
'Not sure if y'all are fans of mozzarella cheese, but there's a little Italian deli called Felice's right there in Palm Harbor, on US19. Each morning they make it fresh and bundle in white butcher paper. If you're lucky to get there before he sells out, there's nothing like unwrapping that still-warm package and seeing the milk oozing out. Heaven, I tell ya!
Sorry to prattle on like this, but I got all excited hearing about your and Mark's excursions! Enjoy!
PS - Your daddy is sure handsome. Happy belated birthday!

such a cute birthday fellow. :) love his cake, too. glad you had a good visit with all the travelers-in.
I can feel your joy as you wrote this, your whole family together, i loved all the pics of everyone with their grandpa and great grand pa... and also that Adam and Tristen could have a mini vacation.. so much going on up there and it all sounds fun to me... yes... the air here will not let us breathe. i keep telling people that, but it has to be lived to understand... i noticed the dew point thing. THEY are at it again
What a special time for your Dad. Sorry about the heat, it's awful here as well. Enjoy the rest of your time there.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT US! Have fun with your dad.
I love gyro's!
Sounds like you are really hitting the town and having fun - and your dad really likes to go - go - go! That is so cool.
Have a good time.
Love, sandie
Looks like you are enjoying yourself down in hot and humid Florida, Debby. I would imagine it is a bit hard to breathe down there with the humidity where it is at. Great gatherings with people too!!
betty
Florida is always so muggy. That sounds like such a fun time!
It looks as if it was a good birthday! And it's always great to see family.
Hope your second week will be a little more relaxing! Otherwise you will need a holiday after coming back from your holiday!!
have fun with you dad. Who doesn't love Hard Rock Casino :)
Your dad looks fantastic for 92!!!!
I've only been to Florida a couple of times. We spent a week in West Palm Beach last year and I remember how awful the humidity was then. Happy birthday to your Dad. Enjoy all your time there with him.
Hi there, So glad you are enjoying yourself and spending time with your dad. You are blessed to still have him. I totally understand about not getting around to everyone-with our trip and now being home, I still have a hard time visiting all the blogs.
Have a wonderful second week!
Hugs, Noreen
You have made me nostalgic for Florida, Debby! Except for the humidity! You are missing some warm days here in SoCal, so you should stay put and enjoy the pool, your dad and The Hard Rock! Alan and I used to go there every now and then for some excitement! Ann
Please don't worry about visiting blogs - just enjoy your time with your dad.
I love the photos of him with the family.
Sounds like a wonderful time!
Glad you are enjoying time with your Dad.
I've lived in hot, humid climates much of my life, so I don't really even notice how thick the air is most of the time.
Sounds like you're having a great time! When we were in Floriday June 10-19 the heat and humidity was terrible! It didn't rain a single time while we were at Disney. The last night there was the coolest night we had the whole trip thanks to storms in the area. Meanwhile we got plenty of rain back home and we still are!
Happy Birthday to your dad!!
Dew point I guess I'm behind the times too .. lol
Enjoy your time with your dad and family!
