2. January 26th is Australia Day. Have you ever visited or lived in Australia? Have you ever tasted Vegemite, and if so what did you think? Is a trip down under on your bucket list? We answered a question about travel three months ago (the October 21st Hodgepodge), but let's revisit now...where are you when it comes to planning or even imagining travel this year?
Haven't been but would love to visit. No I haven't tasted it but it sounds interesting. I can't say it's on my bucket list. I do hope to get back to Montana to visit Amber and Dylan. Would love to get to Florida but I don't see myself on a plane anytime soon.
3. Something that zaps your energy? Something that energizes you?
Housework but mainly because of my COPD. I bet you can guess this one....it's visiting James. I can follow him around endlessly. Of course the next day I crash!
4. On a scale of 1-10 what are your eating habits like these days? (1=all junk food all the time and 10= juicing every green thing in the frig) Healthiest meal you've eaten in the last week or so?
I guess I'll go with a 7.
I made a vegetable soup. No instructions, just put in things that I like. Dr. Oz is suggesting two bowls of a vegetable soup a day because your body processes it different and it helps get rid of body fat so I'm trying it.
Broth, mushrooms, cabbage, spinach, carrots, red peppers and black beans. I put the black beans in the soup because he suggests two servings of beans each day also. S & P along with a few other spices that I like. It actually tastes great!
I am still eating as healthy as I can but Mark is driving me crazy. He see's ads and orders from DoorDash and I find it hard to refuse the junk food.
5. What's your most often 'Back in my day....' thing to say?
I say "awesome" a lot. I also so "Way to go." I say "Seriously" too. Not sure if they are back in the day.
6. Insert your own random thought here.

I wish I could find something to energizes me because pretty much everything seems to zap my energy lately.
we have not binged watched anything for about a year and a half, can't find anything we want to binge watch. Before the year and a half, we binge watched Bosch, and Justified and a couple of others on Prime. I don't watch TV in the daytime, only two hours a day, and that requires something we both like.
I have found a new thing that is energizing me, coming up in a post soon. I spend way to much time on the computer, hours per day. it kills my back and legs and neck. 3 days ago, i started using a stop watch. I set it to go off every 10 minutes. when it rings I get up. I got up in the middle of typing this. it is giving me more energy and less pain. details in the blog
I like that random quote, Debby. That's one I think we need to copy and print out and put it some place where we can refer to it often. It is hard if one is trying to eat healthy and the other in the house isn't on the same page with is. We here are doing a January purge and both of us agree to do it. More healthy eating and no alcohol this month (can't wait for February 5th, the first Friday of February when I'll have wine with dinner LOL). But I lost 7 pounds so far and hubby 6 pounds so its a good thing :) I do like the concept of the vegetable soup daily; will have to look into that. I caught up on all my series I had liked on Netflix so I think I'm going to cancel my subscription temporarily until new shows come that I might be interested in.
betty
That soup sounds good...
The soup sounds yummy. I am making beef stew for our dinner tonight.
It is cold, cold, cold here, 6 degrees as I visit you today.

I love your random thought! Get outside and enjoy nature!
That soup looks so yummy. Now I am going to walk right over to the kitchen and make some veggie soup! Yum!
Stay warm!
Good advice in the random thought post.
James is a good answer for what energizes you!
I love to eat soups but don't make them, I guess because my husband doesn't eat soup.
Debby, I love your random thought! Hope you are doing well. Enjoy your week.
That soup looks awesome, Debby. I've been eyeballing several like-kind recipes, but yours looks/sounds the best.
I never knew vegetable soup got rid of body fat.
Love your random thought.
I am streaming more now because of COVID. That's because I no longer go to the Y and am doing all of my exercises here at home. I never sit to watch videos, I only watch when I exercise...I do it for at least an hour a day, usually a lot more. That plus nutritious foods is what lifts my spirits and energizes me.
I hear you on reading. I am becoming more of a beta reader for authors. I just can't keep up with everything I was doing. I don't have a set schedule for blogging, anymore. Too much pressure. 💖
The soup does look good, but I can understand why Hubs is craving some meatier foods. I wish I could settle down with a book, but we haven't stopped since October. I can't seem to focus on a book even when I have a few minutes to sit.
That soup looks great - I copied the recipe you had there - anything else I need to know?
Your soup looks absolutely delicious, Debby! I could eat soup every day of the week. And I love that quote too.... "do it all again and again and again until you feel safe and free and happy". I don't think I'll feel this way until the virus is history! ~Andrea xoxo
I say 'awesome' a lot too! Then I cringe, "Is that still something people say?!" Oh well. :)
I had to look up vegemite and it sounds nasty! I don't think I'd ever try it. Although I find the older I get the more I want to try new things. So, who knows!
The soup looks amazing; well, except for that green stuff! :D
Love the quote at the end of the post!
I spent ten days in Australia (mostly Tasmania) and loved it. But Vegemite sucks.
We are currently binge watching "Schitt's Creek."
Congrats on trying to eat healthier! I am trying to stay away from edible cookie dough. It is wonderful.
I love vegy soup and recently made some.
